Markdown table generator
Turn pasted spreadsheet cells or CSV into a Markdown table. Escape pipes and HTML, choose a delimiter and preview the first rows locally.

Up to 1,000 input rows, 100 columns and 200,000 characters. Values are treated as text.
Inputs are processed in this tab. No text, paths or results are sent to our server or saved in an account. Privacy details.
From input to a useful answer.

Paste tabular text and choose its delimiter.

Copy the Markdown and preview it in the destination renderer.
Convert a rectangular table
The tool turns comma-, tab- or semicolon-separated text into a pipe table with a header and separator row. All input rows must have equal cell counts. When headings are disabled, it creates Column 1, Column 2 and so on, keeping every input row as data.
Tabs are convenient for a small spreadsheet selection, but select the delimiter actually separating cells. Quoted fields use the CSV converter’s strict parser, including doubled quotes inside quoted text. A delimiter belonging to a value needs appropriate quoting rather than an extra column.
Understand what is escaped
Cell pipes are escaped to prevent new column boundaries. Ampersands and angle brackets become HTML entities, and backslashes are escaped. A line break inside a quoted cell becomes a generated <br> tag, keeping the source on one Markdown row while requesting a visual cell break.
For A|B & <tag>, output contains A\|B & <tag>. These changes protect table structure and display HTML-looking text. Other Markdown syntax is not universally escaped: asterisks, backticks and links may still receive special treatment from the destination renderer.
Preview where the table will be read
Tables are a Markdown extension, so implementations differ. A destination can lack table support, disable inline HTML or render <br> differently. Leave a blank line before the table where required and inspect its displayed result rather than only the source.
Limits are 200,000 input characters, 100 columns and 1,000 total input rows. The tool does not merge cells, calculate formulas, set alignment or retain spreadsheet styling. Reduce a wide table to the columns readers need; valid Markdown can still be awkward on a phone.

Why is there a backslash before a cell pipe?
It escapes the pipe so supporting renderers keep it as cell content instead of starting another column.
Will every Markdown app render it identically?
No. Table extensions, inline HTML and other features vary. Preview it in the actual destination.
Does it neutralise all Markdown formatting?
No. It escapes HTML-looking characters, backslashes and pipes, but other Markdown syntax may still be interpreted.
